During today’s Xbox Developer Direct, we took another look at the upcoming Xbox RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with a release date of April 24, 2025.
In the new trailer, we got more information about the game's story, which we're told isn't focused on good versus evil. Instead, it focuses on a complex, chaotic group of people who come together to defeat something that threatens them all. The game focuses heavily on the relationships between characters, and while it can be soul-searching, there are some NPCs with lighter stories and mechanics.
As we've seen in past trailers, the UI and battle menus are incredibly sleek, and go some way to embodying the power of Persona. The world itself was inspired by French Art Deco style, art director Nicohlas Maxson-Francombe explains in the book Recent Xbox Wire posts He wanted to avoid being in the same environment he'd seen a million times before. “I just wanted to get away from the stuff that we've just seen a million times — science fiction, space, zombies, all that stuff. I just wanted to get my head out of there and see what I could see.” Can try to come up with something that is original to me personally. “
We also got a look at unique character mechanics and customization via the skill tree in the trailer, as well as what appears to be a ton of potentially equippable passive effects. Same content with more details Xbox wire post Regarding the combat system and specific actions of some characters.
It has been revealed that Clair Obscur will follow in the footsteps of old-school role-playing games and feature a real, navigable world map from which you can visit various regions and towns. The world map will also include secrets and even hidden bosses.
Claire Obskozen First announced at the Xbox Game Showcase last summer Coming from Montpellier-based Sandfall Interactive, this comes as a complete surprise to most people. It takes place in a world where an entity known as “The Painter” “redraws” the world every year, during which she also draws a cursed number on a boulder that causes everyone of that age and above to instantly transform turns into smoke and disappears. Every year, that number decreases by one, with a younger and younger generation dying each time. Next up is the number “33” and a group of people led by Gustav set out to try and stop the Painter once and for all in a turn-based RPG with incredibly stylish combat and real-time elements.
