Disney Lorcana: Island of Achicia – First impression of the new TCG expansion

The new Disney Archazia's Island's new Disney Archazia's Island was released on March 7 in an early release on local game stores, followed by an extensive release on March 21. In the seventh set, the trading card game introduces Dible Colorcars for The Dual Colordare for the first time. The new booster extension is also accompanied by two new entry decks: a ruby/sapphire deck with the character of Beauty and Beast, and amethyst/steel deck with Aladdin character. Disney Lorcana's start-up deck is a great way to laugh at what a new mechanic might be, but one of these new decks seems to be stronger than its peers.
Of course, the entry deck is not optimized for super competitive games, but they will make you part of it. Therefore, usually, the starter deck that is out of the box may feel slow. That being said, if you can find synergies of certain cards in time. For example, a ruby/sapphire deck depends on whether the project is used on site. New two-color beauties can be cheap based on the number of items in your discarded item cards. She also allows players to put the three discarded items back into the deck as she pursues. In addition to getting rid of items normally, you also have characters like Dual Color Beast, who expel two items to deal damage to the other persona. Then there is Cogsworth, who will become stronger if there is only one thing in the discard. So now you have this engine where you can use items to benefit from discarding and put them back on the deck and do it again. With so many opportunities for interaction, players must be cautious about their own game order. For example, if the character benefits from there first, he does not want to put the item back on the deck. Apart from that, there are the usual ruby and sapphire tendencies on the deck, such as building ink holes or causing damage and rushing down the character.
As for the amethyst/steel deck, this is the most interesting mechanic from this setup by disappearing keywords. If the target of a certain action is a single use of the spell, the characters that disappear immediately are expelled immediately. For example, the action card double trouble causes 1 damage each time, which can cause up to two characters. If your opponent has two cards on the field, the action card will make both powerful characters disappear at a cheap speed – and you can do so without even damaging them. This keyword can be seen on hallucinated characters, which is also a new property of Lorcana. So, like fantasy, they disappear once they wave. Of course, this sounds bad, but the hallucination characters themselves are very powerful considering their costs. For example, on this deck we have a 4/4 Mufasa that takes four inks to play. The Iago of Iago is 4/6, with avoidance and also takes four inks to play. Often, these hallucinations can cause some damage whenever the opponent does not have the necessary cards to get rid of them easily. The main beneficiary of these hallucinations cards is Jafar, who can return the hallucinations cards that are on the opponent's turn. Given the value and threat of these hallucinations cards, Jafar is crucial to making this deck perform. Otherwise, fantasy will only be exiled immediately, which feels bad.

So far, introducing a two-color card seems to be an obvious addition to the deck if you play the right colors with the right play style. As expected, they have new cards and the entire expansion feature, but with Star Wars unlimited deck colors, they can splash other colors on the deck, but incur additional expenses. Regarding deck brewing, it doesn’t leave much room for creativity. For example, if you are fantasizing about fantasies, you have to have a card like Dual Color Jafar that brings you extra value with the disappearing negative kickbacks. Fantasy, on the other hand, can be cheap and can eliminate any opposing characters before they can disappear quickly. Out of the box, though, hallucinations are very susceptible to action, and there is a Jafar that doesn't last long in any game.
Archazia's Island start decks all showcase the new mechanisms coming very well, but the engines on the Ruby/Sapphire deck are more consistent than those on the amethyst/steel. Unfortunately, featured characters are characters we've seen in the game, but this does allow space to get stuck with older Belle or Jafar in the upcoming meta.
