Metroid Prime remade switches get rare discounts at Walmart

and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Expected to be released sometime this year, and now is a great time to revisit or experience the Retro Studios series for the first time. The ideal starting point is Metroid Prime Remaster, a overhaul version of the original GameCube classic and rebuilt with gorgeous graphics and modern controls on the switches. Metroid Prime was released in February 2023, but it almost always sells for $40. This is one of the exclusive Switch products that aren't appearing in official sales, making Walmart's current deal even more famous. Amazon may have briefly matched the Walmart deal, as Prime Remastered is now Sold out on Amazon. Walmart's list doesn't make it clear that the game is usually priced over $30, but you'll find it for a regular price of $40 Best Buy and Target. We won't expect this deal to be available for a long time, so grab the copy as much as possible.

Despite the name, Metroid Prime Remastered feels more like a remake, and it's a faithful remake. The alien ruins and wilderness of Tallon IV have been rebuilt with gorgeous new models and high resolution textures that not only match the artistic orientation of the original game, but also enrich its atmosphere. The gameplay and level design are the same as the original, unless there are some welcome changes (such as new control options), including modern control schemes that reflect standardized first-person shooters, but most players are familiar with – although the original control schemes and gyro-based targets are also available.
Although these changes have allowed Metroid Prime to remake the final gameplay and highlight the performance of the original core gameplay. As Steven Petite said in our Metroid Prime remake review: “It’s an experience that ages like fine wine and is as intoxicating as it is 20 years ago.”
This Metroid remake deal is a great entry point for new players, but those who already own the game have more Metroid releases that can be expected this year. Apparently, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond the Big One, but there are also upcoming ones Metroid Prime 1-3: Visual Review Art book launched on June 24. The hardcover book will include illustrations and concept art from the original Metroid trilogy and the recent Metroid remake, along with reviews from Kensuke Tanabe and members of the Retro Studios development team. While 2025 is becoming a banner for Metroid Prime for a year, the entire series has been winning some notable attention over the past few years. The latest game in the main line side scrolling series, Metroid's Fearthis is the first brand new entrance launched on the Switch in 2021 in 19 years. If you haven't played it, you can buy it on Amazon for $51. You can use it with Metroid Fear Amiibo 2 packwhich includes numbers for Samus Aran and Emmi robots, priced at $24 ($30). For those who want to explore early games in the series, you can access all the Galaxy NES, SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games through the Nintendo Switch online service.
