According to various Hollywood sources, Sony is working on new Starship movies.
Hollywood Reporter District 9 says Elysium and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp have signed on to write and direct the new adaptation of Starship Soldiers, a 1959 military science fiction novel by Robert A. Heinlein. Deadline and type Backed up the report.
This new Starship movie has nothing to do with Paul Verhoeven’s cult classic 1997 sci-fi satire Starship soldiers. Instead, this is a new adaptation of Heinlein's novel, which comes from Sony's Colombian picture.

Blomkamp Sony itself recently announced a live-action movie of “Big Playstation Studios Shooter Hell”. The Heller of Arrowhead was inspired by the interstellar spaceship soldiers of Verhoeven and saw the artillery feed soldiers responsible for defending a sarcastic fascist super earth with alien bugs and other enemy factions while preaching freedom and managing democracy to the masses.
Sony now faces the prospect of having the new Starship Soldier and Hell movies confront each other, although Hollywood Reporter says Bromkamp's view is not a remake of the Verhoeven movie, but a return to the original material. The basis of Heinlein's work, Verhoeven's Starship Troopers, is very different from the tone of the film, which many believe will promote the ideal of film satiricality.
Neither the new Starship Soldier nor the Hell movies have a release window, so we can see or hear from any project for a while. Blomkamp's final film is Sony's own Gran Turismo, an adaptation of the long-running PlayStation exclusive driving simulation series.
