Former Playstation executive Shuhei Yoshida has been sharing many insights about the gaming industry since Sony left Sony. He said that might be the time for Sony to rethink its adherence to cutting-edge graphics.
In an interview avwatch (pass genki_jpn) Yoshida said it was time for PlayStation to rethink its focus.
“Until now, Playstation’s DNA has been driven by the values that have been ongoing since the Ken Kutaragi era,” Yoshida said. “Users are also expecting to start with PlayStation Games. But now is the time to rethink that.
“Of course, I think it's necessary to provide the best (in terms of graphics quality) for the person I want,” Yoshida continued. “But, in order to broadly speak, we naturally have to change our mindset.”
There is no doubt that similar games Horizon forbidden West,,,,, The Ghost of Tsushima,,,,, Our Last Part 2or other major Sony exclusive experts will focus heavily on graphics loyalty. However, Yoshida's comments suggest that it may be time to rethink the approach.
Is this focused on a relatively small experience Astro Botor a complete pivot for Lo-Fi or styling graphics, which is not a suggestion. But at the price of big AAA games like those in Sony's stable It seems to be just upnew methods may be welcomed.
This is not the only insight Yoshida shared in his interview. Former PlayStation Exec Nier: The impact of automatons on the gaming industry is also discussedespecially in Japan. Regardless of whether this is a blueprint for re-using the gameplay method, I certainly wouldn't complain about games like Nier: Automata.
