Artificial intelligence remains one of the biggest talk points in video games and many other industries, and now U.S. President Nintendo has weighed his ideas.
Doug Bowser told CNBC He saw the opportunity for AI technology to improve productivity in some areas, but humans will always guide them in actual game development.
“If developers chose to use AI, and now it’s Nintendo’s discussion – that’s not the only way to develop games,” he said. “We still believe that what makes our games special is our developers. Their artistic abilities. Their insight into how people play. So there’s always a human touch and human involvement in how we develop and build games.”
He added that AI is no different from any other new technology that has entered the market, saying Nintendo helps create “a better gaming experience” and may choose to take advantage of it.
It seems Nintendo executives are consistent in the news on this topic, as Bowser is essentially responding with Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa in 2023. The game will not be produced by “single technology”. Meanwhile, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto said Nintendo isn't necessarily in a hurry to use AI Just because other companies might do that.
Electronic Arts Boss Andrew Wilson believes AI can be used to develop games faster. Meanwhile, Microsoft has invested heavily in AI and said AI will feature in every product in its future. Including XboxUbisoft Project Create an AI NPC with which players can talk to.
AI technology has been used in game development for decades – but the new and different thing in recent years is the generation of artificial intelligence. Many are still worried that the growth of the generative AI market could lead to unemployment, and EA and other companies have also admitted it is one Reasonable attention.
The video game industry has Faced with brutal layoffs in 2023 and 2024although the role of AI technology in these cuts is unclear.
