One of the oldest discourses in the gaming field hovered again: the question of whether large single player games are “dead”. This time, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke, who pioneered the single player game in the blockbuster film Baudel's Gate 3weighed the matter with a firm position.
release X/TwitterVincke notes that this is “against the time of year that the big single player has been declared dead again.” His answer is: “Use your imagination. They are not. They just need to do it well.”
It's hard to deny that Vincke knows exactly what he's talking about. Larian Divine nature: Primitive sin and Divine: Primitive Sin 2 Before taking power on Baldur's Gate 3, from all perspectives, deliver.
Vincke has been the headlines of his concise insights before Awards ceremony on stage or leave. He stressed the enthusiasm behind development, respected developers and players, and cared about the game. From this perspective, this ancient discourse may not be surprising, but it is still being reiterated.
Indeed, 2025 has seen at least one hit a major single player game in the form of Warhorse Studios. Kingdom Comes: Save 2. There are still many months of the year, and other single-player games also have plenty of time to steal the spotlight for themselves.
Larian of course decided to leave Baldur's Gate 3, or even Dragon's Dragon to make a brand new IP. Speaking to IGN at this year’s Game Developer Conference, Hasbro Dan Ayoub’s Senior Vice President of Digital Games Fans may soon hear more about Valdelmen's next steps.
