Dandadan is one of the most unique anime debuts of 2024. The series adapts a popular manga of the same name, which follows Japanese high school students Momo and Okarun. Both study paranormal phenomena, although they cannot see the eyes. Momo believes in ghosts but does not believe aliens are real, while Okarun believes in aliens but does not believe in ghosts. Naturally, they soon discovered that both ghosts and aliens are very real and very dangerous. Fortunately, both gain supernatural abilities to resist supernatural forces that threaten the world. The anime was produced by Saru, the same studio in the recent animation series that Scott Pilgrim stood out – the animation is just for the original art of Mangaka Yukinobu Tatsu.
While the upcoming Blu-ray release will be a great way to revisit this story so far, the original comic series is also for those who want to experience the original material, or until the following seasons to see what happens next. So far, 12 volumes have been translated into English and are now available on Amazon, while volumes 13, 14 and 15 are all scheduled to be released later in 2025 and available for pre-order.
