Civilization 7 patch 1.0.1 solves some negative feedback in advanced access

Civilization 7 developer Firaxis has released patch 1.0.1 in time after the full release of the strategy game, and has previously had a rating on Steam with “hybrid” user comments.
Firaxis is working to address various community complaints, most of which revolve around the user interface, lack of the diversity of maps, and the feeling of game launching, without many key features, and fans are already expecting many of them.
In an interview with IGN before the release of its third-quarter financial results, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick admits Civilization 7 has received negative comments from news and playersbut insists that the “traditional civic audience” will grow and call the early performances of Civilization 7 “very encouraging.”
Now that Civilization 7 is available to everyone, not just those willing to pay for premium access, Firaxis has released patch 2 for PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck only. In an article about steamFiraxis said it was “the first in a series of upcoming patches” to address feedback from advanced access. The complete patch description is below.
It is worth noting that Firaxis has temporarily disabled the “speed up” update of the cross-game multiplayer game for the PC version. This means that developers sometimes deploy patches to their PC at a different “tempo” than the console, which actually includes patch 1.0.1. This won't make Firaxis clear on console players that try to play cross-platform games with other console players, or on PC-PC multiplayer games.

Civilization 7 1.0.1 Patch 2-February 10, 2025
How to play the game
Windows PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck
- Fixed an issue that caused the age of Epic and Marathon Speed games, which were shorter than expected.
- City states will now become friendly and independent powers for age transitions, rather than disappearing completely. They will now also start with more units of exploration and modern times.
- Fixed inconsistencies with the Navy.
- In all cases, the naval unit will use the correct combat intensity value when attacking another naval unit.
- After attacking another naval unit, the naval units will suffer appropriate mutual damage.
- After defeating another naval unit, the naval units will enter the attacked tiles more consistently.
- Complete the final milestone of the Heritage Road no longer adds to modern age progress to ensure you have more time to complete your victory.
- If the town no longer qualifies to be selected (e.g., if their population decreases) the focus will automatically shift to the growing town until it is eligible again.
- Future citizens can now repeat for all ages. When repeated, the cost of future technology and future citizens will now increase.
- After too much bonus, a problem is solved where the food required for the next growth event becomes negative.
- Improvements in the railway network are designed to improve the reliability of settlements connected to the railway network via water through building ports. This should apply as long as the capital has a port or is connected by rail to a settlement with the port.
- Improved the loyalty crisis of ancient times, including the ability to buy villas in towns during this crisis, another way to manage the well-being of settlements.
- Notes on cross-game multiplayer: To speed up updates to the PC experience, we sometimes deploy patches to the PC at a different pace than the one on the console, including today’s patch 1.0.1. As a result, cross-play between the PC player and the console player is temporarily disabled. This won't work on console players trying to play cross-platform with other console players, nor will it affect PC to PC multiplayer.
AI
Windows PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck
- AI will now offer fewer high-value cities during peace deals.
- In modern times, AI now declares wars at the beginning of age.
- In modern times, AI will now consider ideology more before declaring war or providing peace.
- If either side had an ideology, other leaders now had less desire for war.
- Now, other leaders are increasingly eager to fight against players who oppose ideology.
- Now, other leaders have less desire for peace with players who oppose ideology.
camera
Windows PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck

UI
Windows PC/Mac/Linux/Steam Deck

- Fixed an issue where the yield icon could not be filled on buildings that are now available when converting towns to cities.
- Fixed an issue where some text was cut off on the Global Submission Breakdown screen.
- Added notifications for completed spy operations so that you can more easily check the results of their spy operations.

- Improved spacing between CIV description, unique units and build icons on the loading screen.
