Verdansk returns Call of Duty: WARZONE next month. Prior to the release, Activision shared a new video to reveal that Infinity Ward's original Verdansk map has been rebuilt from scratch with new technology, but it is still designed to stay true to the original design.
Warzone launched with Verdansk five years ago, and now players will experience the map with improved visual effects and lighting as shown below.
Activision reveals that Verdansk's remake is a collaboration between Beanox, High Noon Studios and Raven Software developers to capture the original map using new technologies now available.
“We want to keep this nostalgic feeling while also upgrading it with new technologies,” said Beanox environmental artist Simon Duschesne.
The developer discussed the lighting changes for Verdansk, saying: “IT (Verdansk) includes new high resolution skies, improved bounce, improved reflection, lightmap quality and accuracy, and better transitions between inside and outside.”
The video includes several iconic locations from Verdansk, including the prison, airport, dam and downtown Verdansk, showing how they are shown with the lighting and graphics of the overhaul. Prison is a point of interest, highlighted as an example, the atmosphere of the map remains the same, but the lighting is improved to create better visibility.
“This is the iconic Verdansk map you remember, bringing life to more detail, higher definition and the best technology available today to ensure it's better than ever,” the developer said.
