EA boss is willing to move the battlefield release date to “a nuanced year relative to competition” (*cough*GTA 6*cough*)

2025 looks like a year for Triple-A video games. Then there is the inevitable new call of Activision, which will undoubtedly be in October or November.

EA lands on the next battlefield in the fiscal year 2026, which means by April 2026. This is GTA 6 territory, even the main Call of Duty and Borderlands 4 territory. So, when will the battlefield be launched, EA must consider what release dates in the competitive game?
EA CEO Andrew Wilson admitted in a recent financial call that it was a pretty good option – if anything, it might even be willing to delay the battlefield.
“Of course, we exist in a highly competitive market,” Wilson said in response to an analyst's question on this exact topic. “I'm lucky to have worked at this company for 25 years and over time we're all in the process of working with all the people,” Wilson said. For now, the new battlefield will be released by April 2026. Assume that in November 2025 (Battlefield 2042 is released in November 2021, and battlefield 5 and November 2018 is released). What if the GTA 6 is launched at that time or around? Perhaps EA will push the battlefield back to the first quarter of 2026 in response, but it is still in the fiscal year.
