Epic Death Stranding 2 Trailer Reveals Release Date, New Gameplay, and Something Serious Metal Gear Ambience

Hideo Kojima takes the stage tonight at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, revealing an epic new trailer Death Stranding 2: On the Beachand confirm the release date.
Death Stranding 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. However, those who purchase digital deluxe or collector’s edition get two days of early access starting June 24.
The 10-minute long video below includes various movies, game clips, and perhaps most notably, one has been watching the characters many have already said, looking a lot like snakes from Kojima’s world-famous Metal Gear series.
Italian actor Luca Marinelli's character Neil is like a snake, wearing a headscarf before leading a creepy team of soldiers. The similarity to solid snakes is significant.
Maybe Marinelli’s snake-like character in Death 2 shouldn’t be surprised. In 2020 Instagram postsKojima praised the actor, saying that if he wore a hijab, he would be the “spit” of the sturdy snake.
“I followed a lot of actors,” Kojima said at the time. “Luca Marinelli looked at the old defender and Martin Eden that caught my attention recently. He hit an impressive little guy inside, they called me the Giger robot, but I think he will burst out soon and his popularity will increase. And, I think if he wears a work anna, he will be the spit image of a solid snake!”
The trailer continues with the metal gear with the Magellan Man, a giant tar-like creature fused with the DHV Magellan that looks a bit like the metal gear Rex (the 15-inch statue of the Magellan Man is included in the collector’s edition.
As expected, the standard version of Death Stranding 2 is $69.99. Meanwhile, the collector's edition costs $229.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $79.99. Bookings will begin on March 17.

Meanwhile, Kaujima announced the Global Concert Journey of Death Stranding, known as the Chain of a Harmonious World Journey. Synchronized HD video predictions will accompany the performance, showing the moments of Death Stranding and its sequel.
