did you see Our Reveal of Magic: The Final Fantasy Crossover of Party Last week, I thought to myself: “Video games are all good, but where are they Superhero? “Well, I have good news for you: Today, we've already looked at six new cards from the Magician's upcoming Spider-Man suit first, and all the products and packaging that will accompany it.

Marvel's Spider-Man arrives on September 26 and will become the second standard law in the Magic Universe that can be completely drafted, surpassing the product line after Final Fantasy, and the third is the third time. Modern Law Lords in 2023. It won't have any pre-built commander deck as you would expect, but The card in the scene box shown above Accustomed to It is standard law, but considers the design of the commander.
While the Secret Lair with Wolverine, Captain America and others was the first step in Magic’s entry into the Marvel Universe last year, Spider-Man will also be the first full set inspired by comics so far. The wizard of Coast executive producer Max McCall said that this is because if they made smaller products, they wouldn't provide space for all the characters and moments that Spider-Man contained.
“Spider-Man needs a complete environment to get justice for the character and combines many villains he's encountered over the years,” McCall explained. “Picking characters from Spider-Man Canon as part of a wider suit will leave too many characters on the floor of the cutting room. We may have found space for Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales in a specific suit that is not transnational, but Aunt May doesn't have space.”
McCall said designs for transcending the universe “turn the mind of world-building” because the typical magic set requires its cards to lay the foundation for its position and setting, while also having fun to get players on board, and most people already feel familiar with characters like Spider-Man. “When we make a card with strong responsibilities, there is enough room to add to the mechanical complexity because people understand the story the card tells. We don't have to move the universe beyond “simple” cards – we just have to choose recognizable moments that are easy for fans to understand.”
As for how they transform these moments and the world around them into a magic suit, lead designer Mark Rosewater told me that Magic’s color pie is “strong enough that we have the ability to showcase heroism and villains in all five colors.” For example, Rosewater said Spider-Man would be white, blue and green (although the specific version in the scene box above is just the first two).
Spider-Man feels obliged to use his power to help people become part of the White Pian. Spider-Man is also a product of science and is bitten by a radioactive spider. This is Peter's talent for science and invention (like his cyber soul) very blue. Finally, Spider-Man’s power is based on animals, and the comics show that he has a certain fate with his connection to both the Spider-Man universe, which are both core green. ”
In addition to the scene box, the set will also feature the usual playback booster, collector booster, bundle and pre-release package, all of which can be seen in the gallery above. While there won't be any pre-built Commander decks, this will mark a reward for the welcome decks – these themes are the theme introduction decks for the game store, so new players can have a low-pressure way to learn the game.
In addition to this year's Final Fantasy, the Coast Wizard has recently announced a theme Avatar: The Last Air Shed. Before this, there will be two sets of universes Tarkir: Dragontsorm and space-themed The Edge of Eternity.

IGN: The Wizards of the Coast obviously have a lot of long-term plans for magic: the party’s collaboration with Marvel, but why did you get involved with the first full set in that universe when Spider-Man started?
Executive Producer Max McCall: Spider-Man needs a piece of ability to be just for the character and combines many villains he has encountered over the years. Picking characters from Spider-Man Canon as part of a wider suit will leave too many characters on the floor of the cutting room. We may have found space for Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales in specific suits for non-transnationals, but Aunt May doesn't have space. We can include the green goblins, but not all the sinister six. Spider-Man has many iconic moments and characters, and we wanted to make sure we get as much stuff as we can on the card, and the Spider-Man suit is the best way to go.
You've talked about how to think of the universe as a great way to introduce new players to Magic, and Spider-Man seems to be a particularly good example. Have you made a difference in the universe in any way given the experience of new players?
mm: Designing a cosmic transcendence scene is an interesting challenge as it throws the mind of world building overturns. Cards designed for new worlds such as Bloomburrow must also introduce people to the world in addition to becoming interesting game works. Cards designed for Spider-Man don't have to introduce people to Spider-Man – everyone is familiar with Spider-Man to some extent – but they do have to pay off people's concepts about characters and big classic moments.
This is a huge opportunity when designing for the acquisition of audiences – new players will recognize our story moments on the cards. So when we make a card with a strong sense of responsibility, there is plenty of room to add to the mechanical complexity because people understand the story of the card. We don't have to move the universe beyond “simple” cards – we just have to choose recognizable moments, and fans can easily understand them.

Can you talk about how to fit Spider-Man's character or theme into the Magic color pie?
Mark Rosewater, Chief Designer: About Magic Color Pies,,,,, Spider-Man is white, blue and green. Spider-Man feels obliged to use his power to help people become the core of a part of the White Pian. Spider-Man is also a product of science and is bitten by a radioactive spider. This is Peter's talent for science and invention (like his cyber soul) very blue. Finally, Spider-Man’s power is based on animals, and the comics show that his connection to both Spider-Man and Spider-Man universes has a certain fate, both of which are core green.
The challenge of keeping these colors in the superhero universe is both fun and accurate?
gentlemen: The color pie is strong enough that we have the ability to show heroism and villains in all five colors. Each color has positive and negative qualities, giving us many nuances about the use of them.
I think the “Spider Typical” Commander Deck is about to get some unexpected new toys in this combo – did you consider any special considerations when the average magic creature type has a very different meaning in the context of a universe that is set?
mm: Details with such questions are important. Often, we play in the same universe as the one outside of our partners – things like “assassin” are rarely a problem. Spider-Man will certainly include many spiders, but many of these characters’ deck hooks will be more critical to the hero creature type.

The Final Fantasy episode will extend across many different games and stories, but should we expect this scene to have a specific Spider-Man story, or do you see it as a showcase of popular characters, activities, and locations in the comics?
mm: The characters and history in the story in Spider-Man – We are not limiting ourselves to any run or series.
Marvel Comics is loved by many viewers, but it is undeniable that the MCU has occupied public awareness of these characters in recent years. With this in mind, design around the comic version or do you like to go back to some of their roots?
gentlemen: Marvel's extension is based on comics, but we are always aware of the impact of the movie, so we find overlap where possible. Fortunately, the vast majority of the film material is based on comics.
With Spider-Man's scene box, why would you join four legendary creatures this time instead of building a box around a single character like the previous Little Commander Starter?
mm: The scene box tells a visual story. Spider-Man’s storytelling is very character-oriented and has a great Rogue gallery, so we wanted to include as many characters as possible. Often, you don't put Spider-Man and Villain on the same Commander deck, so once we promised to play a lot of roles, we knew you wouldn't put them all on the same deck, so this makes a great opportunity to make each villain more unique and emphasize their different goals and approaches in card design.

Sure, Spider-Man will be included, but how did you make it to the other three characters?
mm: When you list the iconic Spider-Man villains, Doc Ock, Venom, and Green Goblin will certainly be there, but the nature of these characters makes it easier to draw scenes where they all have the same visual weight. The green goblins on the glider didn't get in the way of Doc Ock's antennae, and Venom could lurk anywhere on strike – they had their own space to glow on the scene.
Is it possible to design such products freely because they don't have to fit in the context of larger sets or pre-built decks?
mm: Yes – the goal is exciting, engaging cards, preferably light enough in text that the art can really shine throughout the scene. No mechanical limitations will make this much easier – they don't have to pay off the rest of the theme or mechanics of the set, which gives them a space to make themselves fascinating and pleasing.
