French Independent Game Studio Coven announces second championship Micromega. Based on works by famous artists Manigamers solve physics-based puzzles in a rotting monochrome world. According to the game's press release, “proportion, movement and observation are key to progress”. The studio also shared the first trailer for Micromega, which can be viewed below.
Based on the trailer, Micromega seems to be an atmospheric adventure, with minimalist ambient music accompanying the ball as players span a series of floating platforms, debris and other obstacles. Although the beginning of these puzzles is simple, it is currently difficult to upgrade at 30 levels, with hidden paths and collectibles posing even greater challenges. All the environments of the game are hand-drawn by Mani, who also serves as the game director.
“Each stage of this vertical scroll adventure is a delicate dance of physics and strategy, and strange creatures have the key to the ascending,” Micromega’s Steam Page read. “Everyone plays a role, but on different scales, working together to change the world and release the path of the sphere into unknown paths…even the smallest push can change dramatically in motion. The world adheres to its own delicate physics, and observing these interactions is key to progress.”
Micromega is Coven's second title. Its first game, Master of Lightstill under development. But while Light's owner is a VR title and requires headphones and a more powerful computer to run it, Micromega's minimum specifications make it attractive to people with more modest PCs.
Micromega currently does not have a set release date. But those interested can Hopefully list games on Steam. Here are more images of the upcoming game, showing more puzzles and surreal environments:
