What just revealed on Minecraft Live is a major new graphics update Minecrafttitled “Violent Visual Effects”.
The upcoming upgrade will initially release a compatible Minecraft: Bedrock Edition device, but there are plans to bring vibrant visuals to the future of Minecraft: Java Edition. It includes improved visual elements such as directional lighting, volumetric fog, pixelated shadows, and obviously glittering water. The vibrant visual effects are purely visually enhanced, with no changes to Minecraft's gameplay. For example, “Visual shadows do not affect light levels in the mechanical sense of the game, nor where hostile mobs lay eggs.”
Players will be able to switch between new and previously existing Minecraft visuals using a simple press of the button, meaning those who want to maintain a classic look.
“So the first release was actually within a few months of the Beta platform,” said Agnes Larsson, gaming director at Minecraft Vanilla.
“There are a lot of testing now to make it as many platforms as possible, but it’s important that high quality and good performance are important. So yes, it’s really the beginning of the journey.”
Maddie Psenka, senior product manager for vibrant visuals, further details the journey of Minecraft’s new look:
“I think it's been a while. What we want to do for the game. We've had past projects with graphics and want to do such updates, but I think this time we really want to use this space to build the foundation for this new model. It's great not to do it ahead of time, ensuring a cross-platform scope and making sure we can explore within scope so we can build on that. Updates are something they've been asking for.”
“We didn't have the speed of walking on the PC, we couldn't make things look great and called it a done deal,” Psenka continued. “We wanted to make sure it worked on mobile devices, on consoles. Of course, you can imagine that you jump on the platform and the different backends there. But we really took some time to provide something we really proud of.”
This is just the beginning of Minecraft’s new graphics journey, which will improve and evolve over the next few years as Mojang balances the team’s classic Minecraft aesthetics in hopes of making it look more like a “modern game.”
“As Minecraft continues to grow, I think over the years we’ll find new things to add to the graphics, right?” said Jasper Boerstra, Minecraft’s artistic director.
“I mean, we've been developing very positively, we've been here for a long time. My Minecraft has been going on. It makes more sense than ever. Yes, I think these graphics updates, and whenever something comes up or we get new ideas or have new ideas or have feedback and predecessors from the player, we might look into more features.”
Vibrant visuals are free updates to Minecraft in the near future, because Mojang continues to refuse to make a lot of profits The best-selling game of all time. This concept of improving and expanding the original game is also with The studio does not make a wish of “Minecraft 2”, or Utilize generated AI technology. Maybe 15 years old now, but there is really no sign of my world slowing down.
