New games in Puyo Puyo's RPG series are getting English localization

Did you know that the popular Puyo Puyo puzzle game is actually a spin-off of the dungeon crawling RPG series Mado Monogataru? Yes – latest entry, Mado Monogatari: FIFA and the wonderful academywill get the official English version later this year on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and Steam. While we are still waiting for the final release date, the pre-order price on Amazon is $50.

Mado Monogatari: FIA and Wonderful Academy are top-down dungeon crawling RPGs where players explore randomly generated dungeons as FIFA, while fighting monsters (including the iconic Puyo Blobs-acquisition treasure) – Favorites- Favorites- Favorites, as well as improving FIA skills. The other half of the game is set in the Magic Academy, which acts as a town hub where players will chat with NPCs, play mini games, handmade weapons, and more. The game will include English and French literal options for Japanese sound performances.
Mado Monogatari: FIA and the Wonderful Academy Standard Edition are the only versions of the game announced so far, and the physical edition will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PS4. Digital bookings are also available for purchase on the PlayStation Store, Switch Eshop and Steam.
Mado Monogatari is a long-running dungeon crawling RPG series that began with MSX and PC-98 in 1990. The series begins with a first-person dungeon crawler similar to other classic RPGs like Wizardry and Shin Megami Tensei, but other entries have tried other styles of dungeon crawlers, including FIA and the Wonderful Academy top-down Mystery Mystery Mystery Mystery Dungeon style gameplay. Despite running for over 30 years, FIA and the Wonderful Academy are only the second time they have obtained the Mado Monogatari game localized in English. The previous game of the series, The Legend of Witchcraft: The Curse of the Great Curry God, was also launched in North America in 2014, and then on Vita in 2018.
