Mobile Suit Gundam's future setting after humans colonize the solar system outside the solar system. Now a large portion of humans live in huge space colonies around the earth, but diplomatic tensions between the Earth Federation government and the space colonies led to the rise of the fascist principality of Zeon, who seized control of several space colonies and declared war on Earth and launched a deadly human robot attack using giant human human robots.
When Zeon mobile suit attacks Earth's Confederate's consistent space colony 7, young student Amuro Ray unknowingly jumps into the federal new prototype mobile suit – the iconic RX-78 Gundam – defends the colony. He was then recruited by the Earth Federation and learned that he was a new hunter – the ability to react to enhance and perceive other newtypes. Although this gave him an advantage in combat, the New Type also experienced a deeper compassion, which made Amuro deeply conflicted with his role in the war. Throughout the series, Amuro also sets up a lifelong competition with Zeon’s Ace Mobile Suit Pilot Char Aznable, one of the central conflicts in the core Gundam series, even surpassing the original series.

Although many sequels and parallel series have taken place in the same fictional universe as the original mobile suit Gundam (meaning nothing to the content of numerous alternative universe Gundam series), the most important of them is the counterattack of the mobile suit Gundam: Char. The 1988 drama film brought Amuro and Char back as main characters back to their long-term competition, which began with the original anime. Blu-ray version Amazon sells for $35.

The first three volumes of Bultorchika's children's comics are translated into English in 2024, with the rest of the series scheduled to be released in the coming months.
