Palworld Communications Director Says Nintendo Switch 2 Version “100% Worth Considering”

When Pocketpair's Monster Capture Survival Adventure Palworld Many compared it to Pokemon, specifically for “Pokemon with a Gun.” According to communications director John 'Bucky' Buckley, this isn't Pocketpair's favorite comparison, but the idea of collecting following cute monsters still prompts many to ask if Palworld has ever pushed it to Pokemon's choice platform, the Nintendo Switch switch switch.
Unfortunately, according to Barkley, this is not in the card, which is mainly due to technical reasons. “If we could make the game work on the switch, we would, but Palworld is a strong game.”
I spoke with Barkley at a game developer conference in San Francisco last week. During our chat, I also asked Buckley about the possibility of the Nintendo Switch 2 version. He said PocketPair was interested, but had not had the chance to see if the port was possible.
“We haven't seen these specs yet,” he said. “Like everyone else, we're waiting. I'm walking around the GDC, hoping someone will tell me about them, but everyone I talked to said they haven't even seen them.”
“If it's strong enough, it's worth considering 100%. We've done a lot of optimizations for the steam deck and we're really happy. The work can still be done, but we're very happy with the results. So we're looking to get it on more handheld tables if possible.”
Pocket board Nintendo's lawsuit is still entangled about alleged violation of the Pokemon's sting mechanismleading some people to speculate that this is the actual reason why Palworld failed to switch.
However, the lawsuit is not really what prevents studios from releasing games on Nintendo, As we saw in January. Barkley Litigation was settled very briefly in his GDC speechsaid that surprised the team and the team did a lot of legal checks in lead to prevent the exact thing. “Almost everyone in Pocketpair is a loyal fan (Pokemon), so it was a very frustrating day, and it was raining for everyone.”
The question is, does Nintendo allow such issues on its next generation consoles?
We will be posting a full interview with Buckley on GDC later this week, so keep checking out more about Palworld. Meanwhile, if you walk away, now is a good time to revisit Palworld, The game just got cross-platform New updates were played last week.
