The highly anticipated action RPG Phantom Blade Zerowhich looks similar to Black Myth: Wukonghas received a nifty new trailer, but still no release date.
The Year of the Snake gameplay trailer below shows the main character of Phantom Blade Zero in a boss fight with Chief Disciple Fallen Hope, a puppet-themed bad guy who fights a bunch of puppets and then starts to wind up.
Fans hoping for a specific release date for Phantom Blade Zero are out of luck, however, as Chinese developer S-Game still hasn't revealed when players will be able to get their hands on the game beyond a vague 2025 release window.
studio tells european players However, Phantom Blade Zero is a “well-polished game,” as last year's demo proved. Currently, it's using Unreal Engine 5 to “further push the boundaries” due to a “significant” budget increase.
The Year of the Snake game trailer ends with the reveal of some snake-themed weapons. Weapon No. 13 is called the Soft Snake Sword, which has a flexible metal blade that can quickly cut off enemies, while Weapon No. 27 is a combination of White Snake and Red Snake great and short swords.
Although compared to “Black Myth: Wukong”, which was released in 2024 and achieved incredible success, Phantom Blade Zero leans more towards the pure action game genre than a software-inspired Souslike.
It was announced in May 2023, but S-Game hasn't revealed much about it since then. That may change as the 2025 release date on PC and PlayStation 5 approaches, but fans will just have to wait patiently for that announcement.
