Pokemon TCG Pocket's stable new cards continue to evolve, with another brand new extension next week. This is also a big shot: it is called the “Guardian of the Celestial Body”, and it is themed on the Pokemon Sun and Moon.
The Guardian of the Celestial Body was officially released on April 30, with a larger expansion than the previous pair, two different types of booster packs around legendary characters Solgaleo and Lunala. It mainly features Alolan Pokemon, which includes three entry-level Rowlets, Litten and Popplio, as well as regional variants such as Alolan Raichu and Marowak. Of course, it comes with a new coaching card, themed on popular characters in the Alola area, and new ways to show your collections, such as new adhesive covers and display boards.
Strangely, the set also appears to include two versions of the starting trio, daytime and one nighttime version, each with different statistics and abilities. It is not clear how popular this split is throughout the scene, but if there are multiple ways to get the same card on the scene, it can make some interesting decks capable of creating some interesting decks.
The Guardian of the Celestial Body is the sixth expansion to date and the third major situation, after the large expansion of genetic apex and space-time, while the smaller expansion of the Mythic Island, Triumph, and the recent glittering carnival. When this article was written, none of these expansions retired, but it may be a matter of time before we say goodbye to the genetic apex.
