What is the difference between Task 3S and Task 3?
Even at retail prices, the Quest 3s cost $200, 40% cheaper than $500 Mission 3. Apparently, some compromises were made to bring the 3s to its competitive price point. The specifications are as follows:
Task 3S and Task 3 Similarities
- Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Processor
- Touch plus controller
- 120Hz refresh rate
- Mixed reality pass (same camera, different layout)
Task 3S and Task 3 difference
- Lower human eye resolution (1832×1920 vs 2064×2208)
- Fresnel lens and pancake lens
- Lower FOV (96°/90°VS 104°/96°)
- Smaller storage capacity (128GB vs 512GB)
- Longer Battery life (2.5 hours vs 2.2 hours)
Essentially, the Mission 3S is almost the same headset, but with downgraded optics. On the plus side, since both headsets use the same processor, running at lower resolutions reduces the load on the APU, which can theoretically improve performance in the game, and also take into account increased battery life.
For the price, Quest 3s is undoubtedly a better value than Mission 3, which is a better choice for most gamers, especially if Mission 3 is completely out of your budget in the first place. This decision is even easier than the previous generation mission 2.
