Sega has launched its own account system, similar to a Nintendo Account or Ubisoft Connect, which will “maximize” its online services and offer various benefits, starting with free costumes for Yakuza: Pirates of a Dragon in Hawaii.
The aptly named Sega account has its new website and is described as “an online profile that gives you a range of benefits when playing Sega and Atlus games and using their online services.
“By creating a Sega account, you will receive the latest news on Sega and Atlus games, events and promotions. In addition, your Sega account also gives you access to exclusive bonuses and the ability to link accounts across a variety of gaming platforms.”
The first perk is a special costume for Kazuma Kiryu from Pirates of Hawaii and Black Dragon, which allows protagonist Goro Majima to dress up as his friend, rival and long-time yakuza series protagonist. This is the same dress Sega is giving away the chance to sign up for email notificationsbut it’s unclear whether that has changed now.
Those with a Sega account between January 22 and March 7 will receive the costume, which will be distributed via code between February 17 and March 7. Hawaiian Pirates Yakuza Arrives February 21stbrought forward from the original schedule of February 28 to avoid conflicts with monster hunter wilds.
Sega hasn't announced what future perks fans can expect, but it will likely include other flagship series like Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona. It could also be combined with the Game Pass-style subscription service Sega is currently considering.
It is reported British Broadcasting CorporationThe company is currently “evaluating a number of opportunities” in the subscription services space, and just like PlayStation launching a Game Pass competitor based on its established PlayStation Plus service, Sega may be laying the groundwork for similar moves in the future.
Fans are also speculating that it has something to do with Sega's upcoming “Super Game,” which is expected to be released in late March 2026. While next to nothing is known about the project, Sega describes it as a “massive global game” that many fans are expecting to become an accumulation of various games, similar to Call of Duty games or Assassin's Creed: Ubisoft's ongoing development. Infinite: essentially the centerpiece of countless other games.
