Sony has confirmed The Ghost of Yōtei Release on October 2, 2025.
Sucker Punch’s PlayStation 5 exclusive sequel also has a new trailer that covers YōteiSix – Gang member protagonist ATSU swore to hunt – and there is also a new game mechanic that gives players a “gliction of Atsu’s past and learn about everything she’s taken from her.”
In about PlayStation BlogSucker Punch Senior Communications Manager Andrew Goldfarb describes the game's story.
“Sixteen years ago, in the heart of Ezo (known today as Hokkaido), a group of offenders known as Yōtei Six took everything from Atsu. They killed her family, killed her dead, and were nailed to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home. But ATSU is enjoying six names. Spider, Dragon and Lord Sito.
“She is searching for their family alone, fixing her to that burning tree with the same samurai sword. But while Asu's story begins with revenge, she will find that her journey is more than just revenge. As she explores Ezo, Atsu will encounter the impossible Allies and Forge Allies and Forge Connections, giving her connection a new meaning.
Yōtei's ghost arrived on PS5 on October 2.

By releasing the ghost of Yōtei in October, Sony may compete with the all-fraud Grand Theft Auto 6, which is the release of the fall of 2025. But Rockstar has not announced its firm release date for Surefire Smash hit rate, and apparently Sony believes that one announcement needs to be announced now, without waiting for any more announcements.
The trailer is heavy in story settings and cutscenes, but the gameplay is also good. We see the gorgeous surroundings and ATSU crosses them on horseback as well as the Greusome battle.
Compared to the first game, Sucker Punch's goal is to give players more control over the ATSU story. Creative Director Jason Connell once said that one of the changes compared to the ghost of tsushima will be a repetitive open world: “One of the challenges of making open world games is the repetitiveness of doing the same thing repeatedly,” Cornell said. “We want to balance this and find a unique experience.”
Now we know what this means. According to Goldfarb, players choose which Yōtei six members leads to which Yōtei, which member they want to hunt for first. ATSU can also track other dangerous targets and ask for bounties, or find weapons teachers to learn new skills.
“Ezo is wild, both beautiful and deadly,” continued Goldfab. “When you trek through the open world, you will find unexpected dangers and peaceful remarks (including some return activities from Tsushima), and you will be able to build a bonfire anywhere in the open world to rest under the stars. We want you to have the freedom to explore Ezo, but you decide you decide to do Ezo, and we can't wait to share more.”
New weapon types include ōdachi, kusarigama and double katanas, “having a huge line of sight allows you to spread throughout the environment throughout the environment, the sky of twinkling stars and aurora and the vegetation swaying in the wind, and “enhanced performance and visual effects on Playstation 5 Pro”.
