It may take some time before we get the Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2, after a comment from Rockstar’s parent company owner revealed his preference for publishing marketing materials relatively close to the release window.

In new interview BloombergZelnick asked directly: Why is the release date of GTA 6 so meticulously retained?
“The expectation for this title is probably the biggest expectation I have ever had in the entertainment industry,” Zelnick replied. “And I've been to the block a few times, every entertainment business I've worked in.
“We want to keep expecting and excited. We do have competitors that describe their release schedule in advance. And we find that the better thing is to provide marketing material relatively close to the release window to create excitement on the one hand and balance the excitement with unmet expectations, but we don't always get the right expectations. But, what we are going to do, what we are going to try to do.”
Here are some things worth mentioning. First is Zelnick's comment on keeping the GTA 6 release date, which meticulously preserves “keep expectations and excitement”. This is what fans and the media think is real, and in fact what the former Rockstar developer is trying to explain is real.
Mike York worked as an animator for six years in Rockstar New England to help build Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 before leaving the company in 2017. His YouTube channel Rockstar is playing a conspiracy theory, deliberately avoiding saying anything about the game, or when to release trailer 2 in order to provide more guesses for speculation within the community.
“They are reaching for them and trying to come up with these very cool theories to decipher in the next trailer,” he said of the fans.
“The rock stars in particular, they are very secretive about their work, which is a very cool strategy because it creates charm and creates a sense of mystery, it creates people in situations where they talk about it without having to do anything. The more silence they have. The better it is because it becomes more fanatical and people want to talk about it and don't know what will happen.”
York went on to say Rockstar could resist pressure from its fan base to announce the release date for the GTA 6 Trailer 2 for this exact reason.
“They can easily release the date of the trailer, like, ‘Hey, this is when the trailer comes out, but they don’t do that. And they don’t do it on purpose because it’s a very, very good marketing strategy. If you think about it, it creates these very cool theories.
“This brings fans together. It’s a really cool way to get fans to talk about your game when nothing is posted between times.
“All of these theories are great. They just create hype, create conversations, create mystery behind the game.”
The second thing worth pulling from Zelnick's offer is that GTA 6 trailer 2 won't be released until we approach the actual release date for the fall 2025 game (assuming it has no delay). If this is true, then we may be six months away, and we will look at GTA 6 again.
